Smashbox "Click You're It" Holiday palette review and giveaway!

The Smashbox "Click, You're It" palette was released for Christmas 2011, and with 15 shadows and 5 cream eyeliners it represents excellent value for money, especially from the Smashbox brand!

Read on for photographs, swatches, and a GIVEAWAY!

I snapped up this palette during a recent Strawberrynet 24 hour sale - in fact I snapped it up twice by accident! Sadly this is not the first time I've bought something and forgotten about it, I have a habit of waking up at 3am and sneakily shopping online, hiding my phone under the covers! On the bright side I often get surprises in the mail :)

The palette is gorgeous, a shiny red fliptop box (super hard to photograph!) with "Click You're It" embossed into the surface.

It has a mirror inside the lid, and consists of 3 rows of powder shadows and a bottom row of cream eyeliners which would double as shadow bases.

It originally came with a Photo Finish Lip Primer, however this is not included if you buy from Strawberrynet and there is a little empty space where it would have been, handy for sponge applicators though!

It comes with some nifty little cards (below) that showcase some different looks to help you make the most of the palette - there are a few colours I was a bit unsure of, so it's great to have these little guides. You can see where they live, in a little pocket in the top right of the photo above.

One thing I didn't notice until I began swatching was that the shadows are arranged in vertical trios that complement each other - you could just use one vertical row and be guaranteed of a look that blends together. How great is that?

The powder shadows all swatched beautifully, they are very silky and feel gorgeous.

The palest colours are a bit hard to see on my white skin, sorry! All shades had good pigmentation levels, and the above swatches are all ONE swipe each on clean skin, no layering at all, and no shadow base used.

The eyeliner cream shades are very pigmented and smooth. I initially wondered if they would dry out, but there is a plastic cover sheet to protect them, and the box seals tight with magnetic clasps, so I think they will last.

I decided to try a look from one of the cards, I shuffled and picked at random and ended up with "Dusk to Dawn" which uses the entire second vertical row.
Not bad for a first try, I don't wear pinks and plums much but these are very pretty! They were a dream to apply, buttery soft, pigmented and barely any fallout, and the cream eyeliner is amaaaaaaaaazing - super black and very, very smooth to apply. I used eyeliner on the top lash line only, as per the card, and I have no mascara on in the photo above. So overall this palette is an absolute winner, and I am glad my beauty subconscious was clever enough to buy it without me even knowing!

Now for the fun part - I have a brand new Smashbox Click You're It palette to give away! To enter, just follow me via Bloglovin or Google Friend Connect, and comment below that you have done so, and which method you follow me by.

Winner will be drawn at random at 12 midday on Thursday 1st of August. I will announce the winner on this post, and they will have until Sunday 4th of August to email me, or I will redraw. This giveaway is open to Australian residents only.

I have drawn the winner - well actually Toki did, she's still chewing on the piece of paper with the winner's name on it! And the winner is....

KATSHEPSUTT!!

Katshepsutt has emailed me so now it's official, I will be sending her prize out tomorrow, so keep an eye on the EOTD thread on beautyheaven, I am sure she will have some fabulous creations to share!

  6. Hiya Kris! First of all, I think we need to ban you from online shopping past 12 am!!! LOL.

You are such a cutie, I can't believe you forgot you bought it. :) It's such a gorgeous palette though, I don't blame you for buying it twice!

The shades are gorgeous and I'm really digging that plum shade. Smashbox have lovely makeup, though I don't think I've ever tried their shadows!

I'm following you on GFC as The Made Up Maiden. I tried to find you on Bloglovin' but it's not working. *sad face*

    1. Haha don't ban me, my midnight mistakes are your gain!

The shadows last well too I discovered, it was 10 hours before I washed my face and there was no fading or creasing at all (I did use Urban Decay Primer Potion underneath but 10 hours is still exceptional).

I actually got a Too Faced palette (called Return of Sexy) recently which has look cards included as well, every now and then there is a palette that has them, and wow are they handy! The Too Faced palette itself is a bit of a glitter bomb though :(

  22. Congratulations on your new blog and I look forward to learning more tips and tricks from you.

Smashbox is a brand that has not really got off the ground here for some unknown reason, compared to other US makeup brands. I think it is fabulous and definitely under-rated, so thank you so much for sharing this wonderful palette with us. It is a superb giveaway and I have to laugh as well knowing that you covertly undertook online shopping. I know the feeling well!

I am following you via Google (all new for me!).
